I am confused about this competition.
Sentinel L2A has cloud information already (see the link - ttps://docs.sentinel-hub.com/api/latest/data/sentinel-2-l2a/). The about page states that we are
using Sentinel L2A data. Why do we still try to detect clouds? or are we given
the L1C data? Are we trying to detect a better cloud detection algorithm?

@dove99 Good question. Sentinel L2A does not have ground truth cloud information, it only has estimated cloud coverage. The algorithms used are described here: Level-2A Algorithm - Sentinel-2 MSI Technical Guide - Sentinel Online - Sentinel Online
The algorithm already used by Sentinel L2A is based on a series of threshold filtering steps, and the goal of the competition is to generate a better cloud detection method.
