Prediction of nest counts, chicks, or adults?

It isn’t exactly clear what the predictions should be. Observations can be of these 3 different types, but which one is used in the test set?

One more related question, is the prediction at year level or season starting level ?

The years in the submission format are for the season, not the calendar year.

I was actually asking about the years mentioned in submission file, there we have 4 years i.e from 2013 to 2017, and we have column ‘year’ and column ‘season_starting’ in the file ‘training_set_observation’. I was confused do we need to predict at the season starting level or year level.

Yep, that’s what I was saying. The columns in the submission file labeled with the year are for season_starting years.
